Agile methodology: what it is and how to apply it to your project
The
agile methodology is used to manage and develop projects within a company.
In
general, the projects developed in companies are associated with certain
difficulties that require additional working time, which can burden all the
employees involved.
Discouragement
can often cause projects to fail or create an uncomfortable atmosphere in the
team. Employees may think they don't have the appropriate skills to do this,
but deep down, as with almost all things, the method fails.
As
with any other complex life situation, it is necessary to apply a set of
parameters and an appropriate methodology based on principles studied and put
to the test.
Customer
satisfaction comes first, but the well-being of the employee is also taken into
account. The agile methodology is a matter of the team and even the entire
organization.
What is the agile methodology?
Agile
working is about learning from others (including customers). They work in short
phases of 1 to 2 weeks, during which small tasks are completed that can be done
in a simple way.
In
this way, script changes that arise during the development of the project can
be easily adapted.
The
customer is continuously asked for feedback so as not to have the entire
project finished and to have to make the changes at the end. In this way,
adjustments are made in the course of the work and everyone involved feels
actively involved.
Characteristics of the agile methodology
Manager roll
Since
projects are carried out horizontally and in collaboration with clients, we can
say that there is no real manager as such. Each person or team deals with
a plot and is autonomous in its implementation.
Diverse teams
The
teams that are formed to develop the work are multidisciplinary and transversal
teams that can work in their field of expertise and also have knowledge of
other topics in which they can help other teams.
Agile and efficient development
By
constantly evaluating the work and obtaining internal and customer feedback,
the way of working is very dynamic and there is no risk of getting stuck.
Problems are resolved comprehensively and in agreement with all parties.
