Flexible work: how does it work?
Currently, the business environment is subject to constant change, both internally and externally, affecting traditional working techniques, many of which are already obsolete.
When it comes to a job, it is usually assumed that the company has the authority to determine the working hours during which its employees go about their work. This situation is also changing, and companies are beginning to give their employees some freedom with so-called flexible working hours.
What are flexible working hours in the work environment?
Time flexibility implies a change in the historical dynamics of companies, allowing workers to have more power to make decisions related to their employment. If the company chooses this flexibility, it can be beneficial for its employees, as it gives them the opportunity to organize and complement their personal and professional lives.
It is a form of work organization that aims to promote family reconciliation for working people. There are currently different types, the implementation of which has given them benefits such as reduced absenteeism or retaining talent.
Types of flexible working hours
There are different forms of flexible working hours in the company, each with different characteristics and characteristics.
Homework
It's the type of time flexibility that's most commonly used today. Thanks to home working, employees do not have to physically go to their workplace and can do their work from home. Therefore, you can choose to complete your entire day entirely online or combine it by working some days in person and others online.
Job sharing
It occurs when two employees who are dedicated to performing the same job exchange so that one works on certain days and the other complements the remaining time. In this way, the number of days that each of them works is reduced. However, in order for there to be no problems in their work, it is important that communication between the two is fluid and takes place on a daily basis.
Reduced work week
Through this type of flexibility, the company offers employees the opportunity to have more days off to enjoy their private lives, ie to work fewer days per week. For this to be possible, employees have to put in more hours in their workdays to compensate for the breaks.
This is not the only way to use the reduced workweek, it can also happen that the company keeps the employee's normal work schedule, eliminates working days and reduces his salary. In this case, the employee would not have to work more hours every day to make up for the breaks, since the company reduces the work proportionately.
Adjusted working hours
This type of flexibility gives workers the freedom to choose how to organize their working hours. Usually, the company requires a minimum number of hours that they must fulfill in their working day, and taking this into account, the workers are the ones who manage their working day based on these values.
