The return to everyday life after the holiday
Returning to work after a long vacation can be difficult if not staggered.
As a rule, we return from vacation with charged batteries, but when we come back, not everyone has new exciting projects for everyday life, whether short, medium or long term.
This can lead to a certain monotony in completing our daily tasks, especially when our daily tasks do not motivate us.
For this reason, it is more important to set ourselves habits and not goals. After both a long vacation and a break, it’s healthy to establish habits that repeat themselves throughout the day and maintain some order in our daily chores.
Some keys to returning to everyday life would be:
- Slowly going about our daily chores, be it at home, at work, caring for children or the elderly. It is a good idea to come back from vacation a few days before the start to gradually adjust to the routine.
- Being aware of the good things we already have – family, friends, steady work, home, on a personal level; but also of our successes, no matter how small, on a professional level.
- Do not compare yourself to people who appear on social networks. Here you usually show the good side of life and not the problems. Instead, let’s focus on our own process and not that of others.
- Finding a hobby outside of work and routine that we enjoy and that makes us feel good: sports, dancing, reading, going for a walk, etc.
Another point to keep in mind is not to pay too much attention to certain motivational messages that pop up on social media like “You can”, “Look for new challenges” or similar. When we’re going through a post-holiday lull, such a message can even be counterproductive.
We must be aware that each person has their own process of readjusting to routine and we should not compare ourselves to others.
